FUNNY SUNNY (f, 3, Sharp Humor–Sunny Laugh, by Relaunch), a smart debut winner for WinStar Farm and trainer Richard Budge at Hoosier Oct. 13, brought $380,000 from Amanda Pope at last year’s KEENOV sale. Second behind Oh Carole (Unbridled’s Song) in a Gulfstream allowance in her first attempt for the Bob Hess Jr. barn Jan. 30, she was hammered down to 4-5 to go one better here. Placed in a tracking second, the gray took over on the turn for home as Kent Desormeaux took a peak back, and drew off in the stretch to win by a pole. It was 10 3/4 lengths back to Let’s Get Fiscal (Bandini) in second.
