Speightstown colt wins second straight stakes

Poseidon’s Warrior coasted to a 3 1/2-length win in the $75,000 Le Bagoter S. at Penn National on Nov. 23 to give the 3-year-old son of Speightstown his second consecutive added money win. Speightstown ranks seventh on the 2011 General Sire List with nearly $6.5 million in progeny earnings.

Poseidon’s Warrior left little doubt who was best in the six furlong Le Bagoter with a strong move in the final furlong from the second spot. The winner covered the distance over the “good” main track in 1:09.67.

Overall, Poseidon’s Warrior has now won four stakes in his career; the dark bay colt took the $75,000 New Castle S. at Delaware Park in October, the $100,000 East Hanover S. in July at Penn National in July, and the $167,000 NATC Futurity in 2010 at Monmouth Park.

Poseidon’s Warrior is a graduate of the 2010 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale, where he brought a winning bid of $90,000. Now owned by Swilcan Stable LLC, the Maryland bred is 6-2-1 in 13 starts, earning $384,917.

Bred in Maryland by Dark Hollow Farm and William Beatson, Poseidon’s Warrior is a half-brother to multiple stakes winners Play Bingo and Quick’n Smart.
