Speightstown holds strong hand for 2019 Breeders' Cup
Tuesday, October 29, 2019
With a total of five entries in as many races in the Nov. 1-2 Breeders' Cup, Speightstown has a big chance to collect his second Breeders' Cup winner.

Friday's card features the 2-year-olds, and Speightstown has three youngsters vying for championship honors. Cambria, in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2) at 1:12 p.m. PT, was unlucky to draw post 12 in the five-furlong contest. The Stonestreet homebred is undefeated in three starts, most recently winning the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Turf Sprint. She has earned $331,000 to date.

In the Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1), race 8 at 3:12 p.m. PT, Sharing also drew outside in post 11. A $350,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling, Sharing is owned by  Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gainesway Stable. Bred by Sagamore Farm, Sharing's dam Shared Account won the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1).

Full Flat will attempt the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) after shipping in from Japan, where he broke his maiden in his second start. Bred in Kentucky by Sierra Farm, Full Flat sold for $250,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling sale and is from the family of Grade 1 winner Stravinsky and Grade 1 winner Fire the Groom.

Saturday's action features Dawn the Destroyer in the Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) and Matera Sky in the Sprint (G1). Dawn the Destroyer, another Stonestreet homebred, has been off the board only once in seven outings this year, six of them graded stakes. Matera Sky ships in from Japan as well for the Sprint. The 5-year-old is a graded stakes winner in his homeland and has earned nearly $2 million to date.
