Speightstown's Sharing emulates her sire with Breeders' Cup victory
Friday, November 1, 2019
Speightstown's beautifully-bred 2-year-old daughter got a perfect ride from Manny Franco to prove best in Friday's $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1), beating Daahyeh (GB) by nearly two lengths.

Sharing, out of the 2010 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) winner Shared Account, is Speightstown's second Breeders' Cup winner and comes on the 25th anniversary of Speightstown's Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) victory. Shared is Speightstown's 15th lifetime Grade 1 winner and his 50th graded stakes winner overall.

Sharing, who won the $200,000 Selima S. in her black type debut Sept. 21 at Laurel Park, broke very quickly from post 2 to put herself in good position right from the start of the one mile contest. Though she was in tight between horses in the first turn, she found a good spot just two lengths from the front down the backstretch.

Sharing followed Sweet Melania around the turn, then moved to her outside and pulled past her with less than a furlong to run. Daahyeh gave chase late, but never really threatened, with Sharing finishing up the distance in 1:34.59 on the firm turf.

“She broke so nice out of the gate and got the position behind the speed I wanted," Franco said. "Down the backside, she settled pretty nicely. By the three-eighths pole, I waited for the right moment to make my move and she was there for me.”

Sharing is trained by Graham Motion for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gainesway Stable. With three victories in four starts, Sharing has earned $730,300. The winner was bred by Sagamore Farm and is a half-sister to the Distorted Humor stakes winner Riley's Choice.
