Stellar $700K Pioneerof the Nile colt at Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale

Wednesday’s Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale featured a pair of dynamic Pioneerof the Nile 2-year-olds that brought in excess of a half-million dollars from enthusiastic bidders.

With a pair of champions and a Horse of the Year from just his first four crops, Pioneerof the Nile’s name attracts plenty of attention in the sales ring. Wednesday was no exception when hip No. 86, consigned by Starting Point Thoroughbreds went for $700,000 to Justin Casse on behalf of M. V. Magnier.

The colt’s multiple graded stakes-winning dam Katz Me If You Can has already produced four winners to date, while his second dam Cuddles won the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet.

A little later in the sale hip No. 126 hammered for $540,000, with Katsumi Yoshida signing the ticket for the filly consigned by Crupi’s New Castle Farm. The filly’s dam Ribbon Taffy is a sister to a trio of stakes horses and comes from the same family as champion Kiss a Native as well as the millionaire Yes It’s True.
