Stellar first day for Pioneerof the Nile at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale

Pioneerof the Nile’s average of $530,000 during Monday’s opening session of the Aug. 6-7 Saratoga Select Yearlings sale was among the best for all sires represented at the auction.

Leading the evening was hip No. 42 consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, agent and purchased for $650,000 by Steve Young, agent. The colt is out of the Mineshaft mare Miss Ocean City and is a half-brother to 2017 With Anticipation S. (G2) winner Azar.

Later in the session hip No. 118, consigned by Taylor Made Sales agency, went to T. McGreevy, agent for Michael Stinson for $410,000. The filly’s multiple graded stakes-placed dam Suave Voir Faire has produced two winners from as many foals.

Pioneerof the Nile has an additional five lots cataloged for Tuesday’s session, which begins at 6:30 p.m. ET.
