Super Allison gallant in NY Oaks victory

Super Allison became Super Saver’s latest stakes winner with an extremely game victory in the $75,000 New York Oaks on Saturday at Finger Lakes Racecourse.

Super Saver is the leading cumulative Third-Crop sire by both graded stakes winners and horses, and has more than $8 million in progeny earnings to date.

An allowance winner at Belmont Park last month, Super Allison was away last in the field of six in the 1 1/16-mile Oaks, but only about three lengths off the lead in the compact field. Edging closer going into the far turn, Super Allison shot between horses to take the lead coming into the stretch. Simultaneously, Mecke’s Madalyn got through an opening on the rail, and the two fillies staged a dramatic stretch duel, with Super Allison never letting her foe by, winning by a head for her first stakes score. The winner is owned by Matthew Schera, who paid $230,000 for her at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale in May. Super Allison is the second foal out of Old Hat S. (G3) winner Richiegirlgonewild.
