May 20, 2010. Lexington, KY.

WinStar Farm is excited to announce the winner of its unique “Super Name Sweepstakes” in honor of 2010 Kentucky Derby Winner SUPER SAVER. The winning name selected out of the nearly 9,000 names entered by horse racing fans from all over the United States is . . . SUPERFECTION!

The winning entry, SUPERFECTION, as selected by WinStar Farm, will become the official name of the colt, which the Jockey Club approved just today. The winning fan, Carroll Mayfield of Memphis, Tennessee, not only gets the distinction of picking the winning name, but he also receives a $100 gift certificate to the WinStar Farm online store.

During the week leading up to the Preakness Stakes, horse racing fans submitted thousands of names in an attempt to be selected as the name for the little brother to SUPER SAVER. The colt, born April 11, 2010, is sired by Medaglia D’Oro and is out of Supercharger. Supercharger is also the dam of SUPER SAVER.

Approximately 10,000 racing fans visited WinStar Farm’s website, http://WinStarFarm.com and joined in the fun of trying their luck at naming this special thoroughbred foal, adding their own creativity to the naming process.

Two other fans, selected at random from the thousands of entries, will receive gift certificates to the WinStar Farm online store. Barbara Learned is the 2nd place finisher and will receive a $50 gift certificate. The 3rd place finisher is Gerald Zebell and he will receive a $25 gift certificate.
