Super Saver #1 freshman sire of Experimental Handicap horses

Already boasting the best start at stud by any Kentucky Derby (G1) winner since Seattle Slew, Super Saver further bolstered the quality of his first crop by placing four runners on the 2014 Experimental Free Handicap.

The Jockey Club Experimental Free Handicap is a weight-based assessment of the previous year’s leading 2-year-olds, with the weights compiled for a hypothetical race at 1 1/16 miles.

No freshman stallion sired more ranked runners than Super Saver, and just four stallions of any age sired more Experimental-weighted horses. In addition, Super Saver was the only stallion to place two colts among the top 10 highweights.

Super Saver’s Experimental-weighted colts are: Grade 1 Hopeful S. winner Competitive Edge (121), Grade 2 Saratoga Special S. champ I Spent It (116), and the stakes winner Hashtag Bourbon (110). His lone filly is the multiple stakes-placed Save Rock and Roll (104).

Super Saver was America’s co-Leading Freshman Sire of 2014 by stakes winners, Graded stakes winners, and stakes horses. He is standing the 2015 season for $35,000, live foal.
