Teniente Coronel dominates Freemont S.

Colonel John’s Teniente Coronel turned in the best performance of his career in the $70,000 Freemont S. at Delta Downs, rolling to a comfortable 2 ¾-length win after opening up by some five lengths in the stretch (VIDEO).

The five-year-old earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 98 for the Saturday night feature, and upped his earnings to $198,664 for Hardy Racing Stables LLC.

The winner is out of the Forest Wildcat mare Latin Lynx and is a half-brother to Alfred G. Vanderbilt S. (G1) Sean Avery.

Colonel John was last year’s number one Third-Crop sire by both wins and winners and second only to Pioneerof the Nile in progeny earnings with $4.2 million.
