Tiz Miz Sue tops in Winter Melody stakes

Tiz Miz Sue registered a 1 1/4-length win in the $50,000 Winter Melody S. at Delaware Park on May 14, the second stakes win in the career of the 4-year-old daughter of Tiznow. She won the Polly’s Jet, also at Delaware, last October.

Sent off the 6-5 favorite in the 1 1/16 mile Winter Melody, Tiz Miz Sue had just one horse beat after a half mile in 47 seconds. Joe Rocco waited patiently until the far turn, going four wide to set her down for the stretch drive. The dark bay filly responded with zeal to reel in pacesetter Sarah’s Song inside the furlong marker. The final time was an excellent 1:42.55, just a second off the track record.

Owned and bred in Kentucky by CresRan LLC, Tiz Miz Sue is 5-4-1 in 16 starts, earning $212,209. CresRan also campaigned the filly’s dam, Sue’s Good News, who won the Grade 3 Singapore Plate S. and two other black-type events. The mare is a half-sister to LeComte S. winner Easyfromthegitgo.

Morning Line, winner of the Grade 1 Carter H. on April 9, is Tiznow’s leading earner of 2011 and one of six stakes horses by the WinStar stallion. Morning Line was also one of 10 stakes winners and 20 stakes horses in 2010 for Tiznow, a top four sire in two of the past three years.
