Tiznow has top colt at Fasig-Tipton

Tizcano, the last horse through the ring at the July 14 Fasig-Tipton Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age sale in Lexington, brought a winning bid of $710,000 that would be the most paid for a colt at the auction

Tizcano, a 2-year-old son of Tiznow won his only career start for owner Oscar Diaz and trainer Michael Yates on June 22 at Gulfstream Park. Clocking 4 1/2-furlongs in :51.52 seconds, the speedy colt earned a gaudy Beyer Speed Figure of 94, the highest by any 2-year-old to date this year.

Consigned by Shadybrook Farm, with Yates as agent, the colt was produced from the Grade 2-winning Gone West mare Westerly Breeze and was bought by Rockingham Ranch, with Raymie Lightner signing the ticket. The colt will be trained by southern California-based Peter Miller.
