Tiznow now yearlings average $400K at Keeneland September day 1

Tiznow’s excellent sales results during the first session of the Keeneland September Yearling sale on Monday afternoon included three lots that brought at least a half-million dollars.

The Hall of Fame champion sire had an average of $400,000 for five lots sold.

Topping the day for the WinStar stallion was hip No. 90, consigned by Taylor Made Sales agency, that went to Lane’s End for $675,000. The colt, named Tiz Bob, is out of Grade 1-placed Temple Street, is a full brother to multiple graded stakes-placed Donworth.

Hip No. 146 brought a winning bid of $575,000 from William Nack and Robert Baker. Consigned by Woods Edge Farm, the dark bay colt is out of Wynning Ride, a stakes winner that was also Grade 1-placed.

Upson Downs Farm, agent, consigned hip No. 87, a colt that went for $500,000 to Courtlandt Farm. The dark bay Kentucky-bred is out of the top-class race mare Tar Heel Mom, a multiple graded stakes winner whose first foal, a e-year-old colt by Distorted Humor named Vorticity, won the Marylander S. and is twice Grade 3-placed.

Tiznow has a total of 64 remaining lots cataloged in the sale, which runs through Sept. 25.
