Two half-million dollar yearlings highlight Wednesday at Keeneland for Speightstown

Speightstown was in the spotlight Wednesday at the Keeneland September Yearling sale when a pair of juveniles sold for more than a half-million dollars.

Topping the session for her sire was hip No. 784, a filly consigned by Select Sales, agent for Machmer Hall. Shadwell Estate was the winning bidder at $550,000 for the daughter of Special Me, whose six winners include Prioress S. (G2) and Inside Information S. (G2) Stonetastic.

Just behind the day’s top seller was hip No. 659, a colt consigned by Paramount Sales and bought by trainer Ken McPeek, agent for Fern Circle. The colt is out of the unraced Malibu Moon mare Red Carpet Miss, whose dam Stylish was a three-time graded stakes winner.

More Than Ready had a total of nine lots sell during the session, for an average of $328,889. He has 42 individuals remaining in the auction, which runs through Sept. 23.
