WinStar launches the WinStar Incentive Network (WIN), a rewards program for breeders

WinStar Farm announced the launch of the WinStar Incentive Network – or WIN for short, a new rewards program for breeders of WinStar-sired racehorses that immediately goes into effect in time for this week’s Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita.

“Quality and customer satisfaction. Those are the single biggest drivers for everything we do at WinStar, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve in those areas. I am very proud to introduce WIN, a new incentives program designed to reward our breeders financially for producing quality,” said Elliott Walden, WinStar President & CEO. “We are committing more than a million dollars in awards annually to breeders who produce blacktype winners by WinStar stallions. Basically, the higher quality of stakes win, the higher the award to the breeder. It’s another way we can reward our breeders while striving to enhance the overall quality of product, for both WinStar and the Thoroughbred breed as a whole. With 18 WinStar-sired runners in this year’s Breeders’ Cup, it was only fitting to launch the WIN program before our industry’s championship event.”

The program, which officially commences Friday, Nov. 4, will award more than $1,000,000 in WinStar dollars, applicable for one year to any WinStar stallion. To join the network, breeders are required to breed two mares to any WinStar stallion to become eligible. The most lucrative awards would go to the breeders of any Triple Crown race, the Kentucky Oaks, or any Breeders’ Cup race. Every other North American stakes race – starting from listed stakes of a $75,000 or higher in purse value, all the way up to a Grade One – will be eligible for WIN awards. The value of the awards that will be distributed to breeders for wins at each stakes level is as follows:

Stakes Level

WIN Award Amount

Any Triple Crown Race

$100,000

Kentucky Oaks

$100,000

Any Breeders’ Cup Race

$100,000

Grade One

$80,000

Grade Two

$40,000

Grade Three

$20,000

Listed Stakes ($75,000 or higher purse)

$10,000

“When we started thinking about how to best structure our new breeder incentive program, we put a lot of thought into being different than anything else out there,” said Kenny Troutt, owner of WinStar Farm. “We wanted it to reach across all facets of the industry, so we asked the question: What is the one thing that drives the Thoroughbred industry more than anything, whether you are a breeder, owner, buyer, seller, or trainer? The answer is winning.

“That’s why we are so excited about this incentive program. It demonstrates our commitment to breeders, and provides us an opportunity to recognize them for their success at the industry’s highest levels, as well as reward them for their loyalty in breeding to WinStar stallions. Breeders who are members of the WIN network will be rewarded for their success like never before.”

2016 Breeders’ Cup contenders sired by WinStar stallions – making them immediately eligible for WIN awards – include the following horses by race:
