WinStar sales grads notch 2 stakes wins

Pool Play and J P’s Gusto, both WinStar Farm sales graduates as yearlings, racked up added money wins on June 18.

Pool Play took the top prize of the weekend with a come from behind win in the $500,000 Stephen Foster H. (G1) at Churchill Downs. The 6-year-old son of Silver Deputy is a 2006 Keeneland September sales grad. Now owned by W. S. Farish, Jr. and trained by Mark Casse, Pool Play has earned $909,556 while compiling a record of 6-6-5 in 28 starts. His other stakes wins came in the Durham Cup S. (G3) and Valedictory S.

J P’s Gusto, a 3-year-old bred by WinStar, won the $400,000 Red Legend S. at Charles Town Races. The 2009 Keeneland September sales grad, owned by Gem, Inc., is now 5-3-0 in 12 starts, with earnings of $811,760. Besides the Red Legend, J P’s Gusto tallied wins in the Hollywood Juvenile Championship (G3), Best Pal S. (G2), and Del Mar Futurity (G1) at age 2.
