Candy Ride's Most Brilliant Son

Millionaire Grade 1 winner Sidney’s Candy is the most brilliant and versatile son of Champion Candy Ride (Arg) to enter stud.

Six-time Graded stakes winner and multiple record-setter, Sidney’s Cindy trounced Champion Lookin At Lucky by six lengths in a Grade 1 on the main track, and beat Wise Dan at level weights in a Grade 1 on turf. Now, his first yearlings are being snapped up by a wide range of international buyers. Career highlights include:

    • Won Santa Anita Derby (G1), San Felipe S. (G2), San Vicente S. (G2), Fourstardave H. (G2), La Jolla H. (G2), Sir Beaufort S. (G3)
    • Set two records at Del Mar: 5 1/2f in 1:02.71, 8 1/2f in 1:39.52
    • Exceptional miler: 8f in 1:33.70 at 3, 1:33.55 at 4
    • Triple Digit Beyers coast to coast, on dirt, turf, and synthetic
    • Highest Beyer at a mile on turf in 2011
    • First progeny have sold in 2013/2014 for $245,000, $240,000$160,000$150,000, $140,000, $130,000, etc.

Sidney’s Candy is from the second crop of Champion Candy Ride, who was undefeated and untested on two continents. Candy Ride set a New World Record for the mile – 1:31 flat – and a New Track Record for 1 ¼ miles – 1:59.11. As a sire, Candy Ride adds brilliance and toughness to his progeny. He has already sired eight U.S. Grade 1 winners, eight 2014 Graded stakes winners.

Sidney’s Candy bred 116 mares his first season, 104 his second, and 120 his third, in 2014. His first yearlings are averaging $61,762 - more than 4 times the stud fee. The future looks mighty sweet.
