U S Ranger - Winstar Farm

Champion Miler by DANZIG, from DYNAFORMER'S 3/4 Sister

A brilliant multiple Champion by Danzig in the mold of world champion sire Danehill, U S Ranger has all the essential components for sire success.

Undefeated at two and Champion sprinter at three and at four, U S Ranger was a major stakes performer in Europe and the U.S., and a Group 1 performer in England and France. He is by a sire of sires and out of a three-quarter sister to a breed-shaping sire.

Equally important—his sales progeny are being very well received by key industry professionals. Career highlights include:

  • Undefeated in three starts at two by 13 combined lengths
  • Stakes record-setter in his 3-year-old debut, the sire-making Prix Djebel, a race previously won by Nureyev, Machiavellian, and Kingmambo
  • Out of a 3/4 sister to Dynaformer (136 SWs), and with a 2nd dam by His Majesty, similar to Danzig’s best son, world champion sire Danehill (dam by His Majesty)
  • Second in his siring crop by Class Performance Index—3.54
  • First yearlings averaged over 8 times the current fee (31 sold), led by a $180,000 colt, $170,000 filly and $160,000 colt
  • First auction two-year-old sold for $160,000 - the 2nd highest price for a first-year stallion at Barretts March 2013
  • Kentucky's 2nd leading Freshman Sire of 2013

The Blood-Horse MarketWatch singled out U S Ranger in its review of the top stallion prospects with first foals of 2011, saying: "Looking at the stallions that will deliver their first foals in 2011, the sires given the greatest opportunity for success are Zensational, U S Ranger, Colonel John, Pioneerof the Nile and Old Fashioned. These stallions are leaders of their class by the Comparable Index and the Class Performance Index, two indices that represent the quality of mares bred.”

Befitting the confidence of the industry as a whole, U S Ranger was bred to some 350 mares mares his first three seasons, including 146 mares in 2012 alone. His first 2-year-olds are now racing, and he ranks among the top four freshmen sires nationwide, 2nd among all Kentucky freshmen.
