A bay colt from the first crop of Colonel John brought a top bid of $200,000 during the first day of the March 12-13 OBS Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale in central Florida.
The Kentucky bred colt, hip No. 31, was consigned by Eddie Woods, agent. The winning bidder was WinStar Farm LLC. The colt is out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Rainbow Girl, who is a half sister to the stakes winner Mighty Martha.
Colonel John, a winner of nearly $1.8 million, with highlight wins in the Grade 1 Travers S. and Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, is standing this year at WinStar for $15,000 LFS&N.
