The first mare in foal to Summer Bird offered at auction brought welcome price of $400,000 at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Summer Bird entered stud in 2011 at WinStar Farm following a stellar racing career when he was named champion 3-year-old in 2009 off wins in the Belmont S. (G1), Travers S. (G1) and Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1).
Stupendous Miss, hip No. 243,was consigned by Pauls Mill Bloodstock. The 10-year-old mare won the All Along Breeders’ Cup (G3) at Colonial Downs and earned $232,127 in her career. She is the dam of Grade 2-placed and Del Mar one-mile track record holder Do It All, by Distorted Humor.
The dark bay mare was purchased by Mrs. Sonia Rogers.
