Bodemeister led all first-crop sires with a sales average of $245,000 during the first day of the March 15-16 OBS March Sale of Selected Sale of 2-year-olds in Training.
Leading the way was a $435,000 colt, hip No. 27, consigned by Hoppel’s Horses and Cattle Co. and sold to WinStar Farm and China Horse Club. The colt breezed :10 1/5 during the Under Tack Show.
The bay Kentucky bred is out of Indy’s Windy, who is a half-sister to millionaire champion 3-year-old filly Banshee Breeze and stakes winner Unbridled Wind.
Hip No. 267, consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds, went for $350,000 to West Point Thoroughbreds following a 10 second-flat breeze. His dam Smarty Deb is a multiple stakes winner and also the dam of stakes winner Finallygotabentley.
The sale wraps up tomorrow with seven additional Bodemeister offerings available during the session.
