$675K, $625K Speightstown colts Wednesday at Keeneland

Some of Speightstown’s strongest sale results of 2016 came during the third day of the Keeneland September sale Wednesday with a pair of colts bringing winning bids of $675,000 and $625,000.

Speightstown had three yearlings bring at least a half-million dollars during Wednesday’s session, topped by hip No. 588, a colt consigned by Beau Lane Bloodstock and sold to Crupi’s New Castle Farm. Out of Rebridled Dreams, the colt is a half-brother to Blue Grass S. (G1) winner Carpe Diem and Breeders’ Futurity (G1) winner J. B.’s Thunder.

Hip No. 538, consigned by Denali Stud, went to Lane’s End for $625,000. The colt’s dam Night and Day is a half-sister to Hall of Famer Serena’s Song.

Through the first three days of the auction, Speightstown’s sales average of $428,667 is third-best among all sires with more than one lot sold.
