$685K for Pioneerof the Nile colt at Fasig-Tipton Florida

A strapping dark bay son of Pioneerof the Nile brought a winning bid of $685,000 at the March 4 Fasig-Tipton Florida Select 2-year-old sale.

Consigned by McKathan Brothers, hip No. 34 was bought by Bob Baffert, trainer of Pioneerof the Nile and his champion 2-year-old of 2014, American Pharoah. Baffert’s new purchase, who breezed 10.2 seconds at the March 2 under tack show, hails from the same family as Relaxing, dam of Hall of Famer Easy Goer.

After finishing as the top-ranked Second Crop sire of 2014, Pioneerof the Nile is once again near the top of the Third Crop sire list this year. Pioneerof the Nile stands this year at WinStar Farm for $60,000 S&N.
