$700,000 Speightstown colt a star Wednesday at OBS 2yo Sale

Speightstown’s $700,000 colt marked yet another highlight in the long career of the WinStar stallion during the second session of the April 24-27 OBS 2-year-old sale.

The colt’s sale price was the third-most to date of the four-day auction. Niall Brennan, agent, consigned the colt, hip No. 403, with Narvick International, agent for Katsumi Yoshida, the winning bidder.

Already named Wicked Wizard, the dark bay is out of Glinda the Good and is a half-brother to Good Magic, who was last year’s champion 2-year-old colt and a leading contender for the May 5 Kentucky Derby (G1).

In the sales ring this year, Speightstown’s 2-year-olds have averaged $248,602.

Speightstown’s has had plenty of success with 3-year-olds this year as well, with National Flag winning the Bay Shore (G3) and Strike Power taking the Swale S. (G3)
