Bellamy Brew conjures up Belmont win

Bellamy Brew dug deep in the final furlong to win his career debut at Belmont Park on Oct. 7. The 3-year-old son of Bellamy Road is a Kinsman Stable homebred. Bellamy Road currently sits in the fifth spot on the second-crop sire list and will stand his first season for WinStar Farm in 2012.

Bellamy Brew loomed in third behind a pair of dueling front-runners early in the seven furlong contest. Closing in on the duo at the head of the lane, the dark bay colt forged to the lead at the furlong marker and then held off a late-charging foe to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:22.67 and post an excellent Beyer Speed Figure of 89.

The winner earned $30,000 for the victory. He is the first starter out of the unraced Concerto mare Little Dickens.
