Bellamy Road filly Land Over Sea takes to Del Mar turf

Land Over Sea scampered across the Del Mar turf course to score a 3 ¾-length maiden special weight victory in the second lifetime start for the 2-year-old daughter of Bellamy Road.

The chestnut filly really took off in the stretch after tracking in fourth for most of the one mile affair, stopping the timer in 1:36.74 on the firm course.

Owned by Paul Reddam and trained by Doug O’Neill, Land Over Sea was a close second in her sprinting main track debut on July 12 and has now earned $52,000.

The well-bred filly is out of Belle Watling, making her a half-sister to War Story, who has placed in three graded stakes this year. O’Neill brother Dennis bought Land Over Sea for $130,000 at the OBS Spring 2-year-old sale in April.

Bellamy Road, the sire of six winners in just the past four days, including a pair of 2-year-olds, is available this fall for $5,000 live foal for mares on Southern Hemisphere time.
