Big figures for Bodemeister at F-T Florida Sale

Bodemeister, whose first crop are 2-year-olds of 2016, led all first-year sires by average with more than one horse sold at Wednesday’s Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale.

With five juveniles selling, including four colts and a filly, for a total of $1.67 million, Bodemeister’s offerings brought an average of $334,000.

Topping the list was hip No. 133, a colt offered by the McKathan Brothers and purchased by Mark Casse, agent, for $650,000. The colt’s dam has produced three winners to date and is a half-sister to Graded stakes winner Cinemine.

Hip No. 99, consigned by Eddie Woods, brought $420,000 from Charles Sandford. The gray colt is out of the stakes-placed Tapit mare Tap Softly.

Crupi’s New Castle Farm sold hip No. 154 for $250,000 to trainer Eddie Plesa, agent. Another gray, the colt is a half to the stakes winner Hooligan.

A dark bay colt, hip No. 148, consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc., went to Swynford Management LLC for $225,000. The colt’s dam Cleverconversation is a half-sister to millionaire and Grade 1 winner Request for Parole.

Bodemeister was the 2015 leading freshman sire by yearling average – $176,580 – and is standing this season at WinStar Farm for $30,000 live foal.
