Bluegrass Cat keeps rolling

When WinStar Farm’s Blue Laser crossed the finish line a comfortable length in front of seven other MdSpWt juveniles at Toronto’s Woodbine Racetrack this past weekend, it marked the 13th winner for freshman sire Bluegrass Cat. Bluegrass Cat leads all freshman sires in this category and is also 2nd on the list with progeny earnings just shy of $424,000.

Importantly, Blue Laser joins Kathmanblu as the 2nd success for Bluegrass Cat in a
two-turn MdSpWt and this is significant because to this point there have been only a limited number of opportunities for juveniles to go that far. Also on Saturday, second-time starter Bluegrass Bull finished 3rd in the 1 Mile Seacliff Stakes at Calder.

Bluegrass Cat’s deep pedigree oozes with classy 9 and 10-furlong runners like Super Saver, Lord of the Game, Accelerator, Daydreaming, Girolamo and Harborage.
And of course Bluegrass Cat himself was most effective at 9 and 10 furlongs.

We here at WinStar are bubbling with enthusiasm at the prospects of stretching out some of these Bluegrass Cats in the months ahead. The evidence strongly suggests that the son of Storm Cat and the A.P. Indy mare She’s a Winner will only keep adding to his already impressive numbers this fall.
