Bubble Rock forges to victory in the $125,000 Cincinnati Trophy S.

More Than Ready’s Bubble Rock defeated previously unbeaten Marissa’s Lady by 2 ½-lengths in the Cincinnati Trophy S. Saturday evening at Turfway Park, pulling clear in the final furlong for the 3-year-old filly’s second career stakes win.

After being defeated by Marissa’s Lady in the 6 ½-furlong Valdale S. over the same track, Bubble Rock got the best of her foe in Saturday’s one-mile affair. Marissa’s Lady set the early pace, getting the half-mile in :47.42, with Bubble Rock just a length back. Bubble Rock closed the gap on the turn and was head-to-head at the top of the stretch. After a brief battle, Bubble Rock took over the lead and drew off for the win.

Winner of last year’s Matron S. (G3) at Belmont Park, Bubble Rock is 3-2-0 in six starts, with earnings of $252,480 for owner/breeder Shortleaf Stable. Bubble Rock’s dam Reef Point is a half-sister to Korean champion Blue Chipper, by Tiznow.
