Carpe Vinum powered to a one-length maiden special weight win on the turf Dec. 29 at Santa Anita to give top-10 First-Crop sire Carpe Diem his 16th winner this year.
The win came just one day after Bella Aurora won the $100,000 Gin Talking S., one of Carpe Diem's five winners in the last month of 2019.
Carpe Vinum, who was third in a turf sprint last month, relished Sunday's two-turn stretch-out to two turns. A $200,000 purchase at the OBS April 2-year-old sale, Carpe Vinum is owned by MyRacehorse.com and Joey Platts. She was bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall and Craig & Carrie Brogden and is the second foal out of the multiple stakes winner Martita Sangrita.
