Cash Control out-games Kitten’s Roar to take Blushing KD Stakes

Pioneerof the Nile’s turf specialist Cash Control won her second straight stakes on Saturday with a hard-fought head victory in the $75,000 Blushing KD Stakes at Fair Grounds.

Cash Control, who had comfortably defeated Kitten’s Roar in the Cardinal H. (G3) at Churchill Downs last month, got a much sterner test from her nemesis on Saturday, but ultimately proved best after dueling for more than a quarter-mile.

The final time for the “about” 1 1/16-miles was 1:42.92 on the firm turf course.

Cash Control, a Richard and Bert Klein homebred, now has five stakes wins, including the Mint Julep H. (G3), to her credit. She is 10-4-2 in 20 starts and has banked $536,794. Out of the Grade 3 winner Hidden Assets, 5-year-old Cash Control is a sister to four multiple stakes winners.

Pioneerof the Nile’s 2016 crop, his fourth, has yielded 2-year-old male champion pro-tem in the two-time Grade 1 winner Classic Empire as well as Grade/Group 1 winners Midnight Storm and La Alpujarra.
