Colonel John, U S Ranger shine with first yearlings at KEEJAN

WinStar’s young stallions Colonel John and U S Ranger hit the bull’s eye with their first short yearlings at the Keeneland January Sale.

The first three yearlings by U S Ranger averaged $88,333, including a colt who sold to Walnut Hill Stables for $160,000. By Danzig out of My Annette, by Red Ransom, U S Ranger covered 87 mares his first year at stud, and is standing the 2012 season for $5,000 (stands and nurses).

The first five short yearlings by Colonel John averaged $58,400, including a colt who sold to Susan Casner for $100,000. The leading money winner by Champion Sire Tiznow at stud, Colonel John was bred to 135 mares his first year at stud. He is standing the 2012 season for $15,000 (stands and nurses).
