Cougarville’s powerful stretch run carried the 2-year-old Congrats filly to a two-length victory in Saturday’s $53,240 Bird of Pay S.
Cougarville, who is undefeated in two starts, is one of 10 stakes horses sired by Congrats in 2013.
With a field of seven, Cougarville settled in the back of the pack after a quarter mile in :22.60 seconds. The bay filly began to advance steadily after passing the half-mile pole, finishing with a rush to pull away late.
Cougarville is out of Gold Invitation, whose siblings include Grade 2 Smile Sprint H. winner Mach Ride and the multiple stakes winner Blue Pepsi Lodge.
