Pat On the Back, a sharp Saratoga maiden special weight winner two weeks ago, backed up that performance on Saturday when the 2-year-old Congrats colt rallied to win the $120,950 Aspirant S. at Finger Lakes.
Pat On the Back is Congrats’ ninth stakes winner 2016, led top distaff sprinter Grade 1 Ballerina S. winner Haveyougoneaway. Congrats’ 129 winners to date ranks second on the General Sire list.
After coming away in no hurry, Pat On the Back lagged near the back of the nine-horse field until there was about a quarter mile to run, then weaved in an out of horses in the lane to nail Macho Miah on the wire, winning by a nose in 1:11.43 for the six furlongs (VIDEO).
Pat On the Back upped his mark to 2-0-0 in three starts and has earned $120,020 for co-owners Harold Lerner LLC, AWC Stables et al.
