Ridin With Biden got his first career stakes win in Saturday’s $100,000 Deputed Testamony S. at Laurel, rolling home by 6 ¼-lengths to become Constitution’s ninth stakes winner of 2022.
The 4-year-old, who was second in last year’s Dwyer S. (G3), is one of Constitution’s 24 stakes horses this year, which easily leads the 2022 Fourth-Crop Sire list.
Trained by Butch Reid for Cash is King LLC and LC Racing LLC, Ridin With Biden broke very well and took the lead going into the first turn. He was pressed by Tappin Cat through a half-mile in :48.94 and six furlongs in 1:13.31. Midway on the final turn, Ridin With Biden began to pull away, then poured it on in the stretch to win going away.
“We were fortunate enough to get a good break and get good position early on and I think that really helped us a lot,” jockey Frankie Pennington said. “Like me and Butch talked about, [if] a crazy pace goes in front of us we’ll sit because he can sit and make a run. We ended up getting out there easy. Butch had him ready and when I asked him for home he really took off.”
Ridin With Biden is now 4-5-1 in 15 starts and has earned $261,580. Bred by William Harrigan and Mike Pietrangelo, the Kentucky-bred hails from the family of Grade 1 winner Man from Wicklow and multiple graded winner Wild Heart Dancing.
