Constitution colt named a TDN Rising Star at Saratoga

Constitution tallied a pair of maiden special weight winners on Monday, led by the romping winner Gouverneur Morris, who won his debut at Saratoga by nine lengths and was named a TDN Rising Star following the stellar effort (VIDEO).

With his two winners on Labor Day, Constitution’s first crop  of runners have now accounted for 11 wins, with Amalfi Sunrise and By Your Side, who were also Rising Stars, going on to capture graded stakes.

Owned by Team Valor International and WinStar Farm, the $600,000 Fasig-Tipton March Select 2-year-old sale buy did not disappoint on Monday, stalking in third before sweeping to the lead at the top of the stretch and drawing away with ease to get the 5 1/2-furlongs in 1:04.29 on a sloppy main track.

Gouverneur Morris was bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall, Carrie & Craig Brogden & James F. Miller and is from the family of 2-year-old male champion Midshipman and Cotillion H. (G2) winner Fast Cookie.

Constitution’s first winner of the day came in the first race at Parx when the filly Ebo Special came home a 2 1/4-length winner going six furlongs. The bay filly was bred by Blackstone Farm LLC and is out of Fleet Special, a half-sister to Oaklawn H. (G2) winner Inside Straight and Santa Ynez S. (G2) winner Dance Daily.

Ebo Special is owned by Cash is King LLC and LC Racing LLC.
