Constitution filly brings $450,000 early Wednesday at OBS 2yo sale

Leading Second-Crop sire Constitution had one of the top three fillies during the first two days of the June 9-12 OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale when hip No. 341 brought a top bid of $450,000 on Wednesday afternoon.

From the Niall Brennan Sales consignment, the bay Kentucky-bred was purchased by Ben McElroy/Narvick International.

“Several people had seen the filly at the farm earlier in the spring and she was already on some people’s radar,” Brennan said of the filly. “And then when she breezed so well and came through the breeze show so well, I think she had already proven herself. And of course, the sire is doing excellent.”

The filly is out of the Carson City mare Rebuke, is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Summer Cruise and Grade 1-placed colt Rebuttal.

Constitution has a trio of colts under consideration for the Triple Crown, led by Florida Derby (G1) winner Tiz the Law, who is expected to contest the June 20 Belmont S. (G1), the first leg of this year’s Triple Crown.
