Fed Biz filly uncorks big rally to take Churchill’s Mamzelle S.

Change of Control rolled by Abyssinian in deep stretch to post a 1 ¾-length victory in the $100,000 Mamzelle S. for 3-year-old fillies Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Making her first start on the grass, the Fed Biz filly had been on sloppy main tracks in her three prior starts. Last of eight early on in the 5 1/2-furlong sprint, she began to make up ground on the turn, but really kicked into high gear in the final furlong to win going away in :56.25 on the firm turf.

“It was a great effort by this horse and a great job of training by Michelle (Lovell),” said winning rider Gabriel Saez. “She broke well and I just tried to keep her in position around the turn. Once she got ahold of the ground she really responded well late and surged to the front.”

The victory was worth $61,067 and increased Change of Control’s earnings to $99,787 with a record of 7-2-1-1 for her owner Roddy Harrison. Change of Control is out of the Quiet American mareAmerica’s Blossom and was bred in Kentucky by John O’Meara.

Fed Biz, who is stand this year at WinStar for $10,000, currently is fourth on the Second-Crop Sire list with 16 winners and over $830,000 in progeny earnings.
