Glass Ceiling makes it four in a row with dominating Distaff H. (G3) win

Constitution’s streaking 5-year-old daughter Glass Ceiling won her fourth straight race Saturday at Aqueduct, cruising to a five-length victory on the $150,000 Distaff H. (G3).

Constitution, the leading Third-Crop Sire of 2021, is off to a terrific start this year, leading all Fourth-Crop sires with nine stakes horses and six graded horses to date.

Glass Ceiling’s winning streak dates back to December, when she won Aqueduct’s Garland of Roses S., which was followed by a January allowance win, then her first graded win in the Feb. 19 Barbara Fritchie S. (G3) at Laurel Park.

Glass Ceiling was closer to the early leaders in the Distaff than she had been in her previous races, sitting in second just a length off the lead through the first half mile. Glass Ceiling blew by Kept Waiting at the top of the stretch and widened her lead the rest of the way, stopping the timer in 1:21.71 for the seven furlongs on a fast track.

“The spacing between her races has been great – I figure two month’s time they’ve got another seven-furlong race (G2 Bed O’ Roses on June 10 at Belmont), so that’s the plan for now. And if everything goes good from there, the prime objective is the Ballerina (G1, at Saratoga),” co-owner/trainer Charlton Baker said.

Glass Ceiling is owned by Baker along with Michael Foster. Saturday’s win upped her record to 8-6-4 in 26 starts and her earnings to $613,512.

The winner was bred in Kentucky by Twin Creeks Farm and is out of the multiple stakes-placed Empire Maker mare Fighter Wing.
