Hammers Terror strikes in Keeneland maiden

Hammers Terror was well-backed at 2-5 by the public, and the second-time starter did not disappoint. The dark bay 2-year-old son of Artie Schiller broke on top soon after the start, zipped through a half-mile in :44.40 seconds, and continued to pour it on in the stretch to win by a half-length in 1:24.31 for the “about seven furlong” distance.

Kentucky bred Hammers Terror is out of the Lord Avie mare Sister Baby and comes from the same family as Grade 2 winners Bold Windy and Kingdom Found. Hammers Terror sold for $40,000 at the 2010 Keeneland September yearling sale, where he was bought by Terry Hamilton, his current owner.

The winner is now 1-1-0 in two starts, earning $37,112. He was second by a nose in his debut to Luke of York, subsequent winner of the Keeneland 75th Anniversary S. on Oct. 15.
