Harlan’s Holiday 2yos running big

The 2012 juveniles by Harlan’s Holiday continue to bolster his well-earned reputation of “run big – sell big.”

With major two-year-old racing just gearing up, Harlan’s Holiday has already sired five juvenile winners, coast to coast and abroad, each in high level maiden special weight races. This record has propelled him to the #2 spot on the Kentucky Juvenile Sires List by earnings and by winners.

The five Harlan’s Holiday juvenile winners represent a cross-section of his versatility as a sire. On June 17, American Sugar aired by 3 3/4 going 5 furlongs on the main track at Prairie Meadows. June 14 at Hollywood, Carson’s Crown debuted winning at 5-furlongs over the all-weather at Hollywood Park. June 13 at Chantilly, the Niarchos Family’s $290,000 weanling purchase Her Star showed her star quality in a 5 1/2-furlong turf event in her first start. In late May, Jo Jack Go went for the first-out victory going 5 furlongs on the dirt at Indiana Downs. And early in the season, Shanghai Bobby debuted with a 4-length win over 4 1/2 furlongs on the dirt in New York.

The sales of record of his juvenile crop is equally impressive. The 21 juveniles by Harlan’s Holiday to sell at public auction this year have averaged $103,178, well over four times the current stud fee. Harlan’s Holiday has 122 registered foals in his two-year-old crop.

Overall this season, Harlan’s Holiday ranks among the top 30 General Sires, with four stakes winners, nine stakes horses, and $2,200,000 in earnings. He is standing the 2012 season for $25,000 live foal.
