Hold Me Back winners total grows to seven

Top-five freshman sire Hold Me Back got the seven winner from his first crop on Friday evening at Churchill Downs when Big Red Seven scored a three-quarter length victory in a one-mile maiden special weight contest for 2-year-old fillies.

Big Red Seven, who had the lead for the entire trip of the one-mile main track affair, held off a late surge by The Strip to secure the win in 1:38.02 (VIDEO).

Big Red Seven was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm and is owned by Xpress Thoroughbreds. She earned $22,200 for the win. Big Red Seven, who Xpress obtained out of the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale, hails from the same family as 2003 Canadian Triple Crown winner and Horse of the Year Wando.

Hold Me Back ranks in the top five on the First-crop sire list in both the winners and stakes horses, with three, category.
