Inthemidstofbiz steps up to take Thoroughbred Club of America S. (G2)

Fed Biz’s Inthemidstofbiz is on her way to the Breeders’ Cup after a very sharp score in the $200,000 Thoroughbred Club of America S. (G2) Saturday at Keeneland.

As part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” series, the TCA victory earned Inthemidstofbiz an automatic berth into the Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) next month at Keeneland.

The 4-year-old filly was making her first graded stakes start on Saturday after winning the Satin and Lace S. in early August at Presque Isle Downs. Jockey Martin Garcia kept his filly close to the pace down the backside, then when asked on the turn, she rolled to the lead and kept on strongly in the stretch to win by three lengths in 1:09.84 for the six furlongs on the fast main track.

“She’s a great filly. I had a really good position,” said Garcia, who was aboard for the first time. “When I asked her to go, she made it really easy.”

Inthemidstofbiz has won six of 13 starts, including her last three in a row, and has earned $297,121. She is owned by Cipriano Contreras, who also trains, along with Andrew Knapczyk.

The winner was bred in Kentucky by J D Stuart and Mueller Farms, Inc. and is out of the stakes winner Midst, also the dam of stakes-placed Katniss the Victor.

With six stakes horses and progeny earnings over $2.5 million, Fed Biz is a top-five Third-Crop sire this year and is currently the only sire in the top five standing for under $10,000.
