Keeneland buyers continue to aim high for Paynter yearlings

Paynter’s yearlings continued to be a hot commodity as the Keeneland September Yearling sale entered into its second week Monday, with a colt by the WinStar stallion gavelling for $230,000, one of the top five colts of the session.

Hip No. 2101 was consigned by Blanford Stud and went to Martin Anthony. The bay juvenile is the second foal from the Pomeroy mare Lady Pomeroy, who is a sister to both the stakes winner Ladyecho and Grade 2-placed Whatdreamsaremadeof, who is the dam of top 2016 Distaff, already a three-time Grade 1 winner of $1.2 million.

Paynter has had a total of 11 horse sell to date since the sale started a week ago, topped by a $520,000 colt.
