Lady Stonewall captures Oaklawn feature

Lady Stonewall, by Harlan’s Holiday, looks like a filly on the rise with a sharp 1 1/2-length victory in a six furlong allowance for 3-year-old fillies at Oaklawn Park on Sunday.

Lady Stonewall has hit the board in four of five starts, including a third-place finish in the $60,000 Dixie Belle S., also at Oaklawn, in January. The dark bay has plenty of ties to the central Arkansas track: she is owned by track owner Charles Cella and is out of Ruby Surprise, the multiple graded stakes winner who was trained by Oaklawn stalwart Bob Holthus. Cella bought Lady Stonewall for $200,000 out of the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Spring 2-year-old sale.

Harlan’s Holiday, last year’s leading sire of 2-year-olds, is in the top 12 on the 2013 General Sire list, with over $1.2 million in progeny earnings.
