Laoban First-Crop progeny surpass $1 million mark

Laoban recently became one of just three First-Crop sires with progeny earnings to eclipse the $1 million mark when Keemeinmind placed in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) and The King Cheek broke his maiden at Parx.

Keepmeinmind, who also finished second in the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) in early October at Keeneland, is one of four stakes horses for his sire. Laoban leads or is tied for the top spot on the First-Crop list by graded horses, stakes winners, and stakes horses.

The King Cheek won his 5 1/2-furlong contest by 1 1/4-lengths, leading all the way to claim the win.

The King Cheek is owned by Morris Kernan, Jr. and Jagger Inc. and was bred by Pucker Ridge Farm LLC.

Loaban recently joined the WinStar roster for 2021 after standing in New York. His fee for next year was announced at $25,000 S&N.
