MdSpWt daily double for Super Saver

Leading First-crop sire Super Saver upped his total of winners this year to 10 with a pair of maiden special weight winners on Thursday. 

Super Saver is the only freshman sire with more than $1 million in progeny earnings. WinStar recently announced Super Saver’s 2015 stud fee would be $35,000 S&N.

Thursday at Belmont Park, My Super Nova sprinted to a front-running victory by a head over a full field of 2-year-old fillies going six furlongs (VIDEO). The winner, owned by R. A. Hill Stable, is the first foal out of Reforestation, who finished third in the Grade 1 Prioress S. My Super Nova sold for $100,000 at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Preferred Yearlings Sale at Saratoga.

Super Saver’s second maiden special weight winner of the day came at Remington Park when Super Stroke pulled clear in the final furlong to register a 1 ¾-length going six furlongs (VIDEO). Super Stroke was bred in Kentucky by Casner Racing, LP. The Kentucky-bred colt is out of Cowtown Kitty, who is a half-sister to Illinois Derby (G2) winner Cowtown Cat.
