More Than Ready colt makes brave move to take With Anticipation S. (G2)

Made You Look’s daring move in the stretch earned the 2-year-old son of More Than Ready his second straight victory and first graded stakes win in just his third lifetime start.

The regally-bred colt, whose second dam is the immortal Serena’s Song, is owned by Let’s Go Stable and Three Chimneys Farm. He was a $360,000 purchase at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Breaking from post 2 in the 1 1/16-mile With Anticipation, Made You Look tucked in along the fence behind a trio battling for the lead. Content to sit in that spot, Javier Castellano waited until straightening for home, when he found a narrow opening along the fence and spurted through to the lead, pulling clear to finish the distance in 1:43.12.

“We were getting a beautiful trip; it was just a matter of whether he was able to find a spot to go through,” said winning trainer Todd Pletcher. “I thought for a young horse to shoot through there was pretty brave on his part. He’s been training really well, we were looking forward to a good effort, he got a good trip, and he delivered.”

“I think (he’ll run in the Oct. 1, G3] Pilgrim or train up to the Breeders’ Cup,” added Pletcher.

Made You Look is More Than Ready’s 164th black type winner and 72nd graded stakes winner in his illustrious stallion career, second-most of any North American sire.

“He’s got a fantastic pedigree, top and bottom side,” said Pletcher, who also trained More Than Ready. “It’s a lot of fun for us to have a son of More Than Ready–it was 1999 when he won the Sanford (G2). He’s just been so good to our stable, not only him but all of his offspring.”
