New GSW for Artie Schiller

Heavily-favored I Love It (Aus) became the newest Group stakes winner for Artie Schiller on Feb. 6, with a sterling victory in the $150,000 Bow Mistress Trophy (G3) at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

The 4-year-old filly became the 27th career stakes winner, 12 Group/Graded winner for El Prado’s value sire, Artie Schiller.

I Love It was making her first start since a winning effort on Nov. 22, but showed little rust, breaking from post 11 in the field of 14, and attaining a confident striking position. When asked for run halfway through the race, she responded brilliantly, and strode home 3 3/4-lengths clear of the runner-up. Time for the six furlongs on soft going was 1:11.48.

Winning rider Stephen Baster said, “The mare was in cruise mode throughout the race and when we had to get going about the 500 meter mark, she hauled them in pretty quickly and powered home to win easily. She has such a brilliant turn of foot and she showed that today.”

I Love It was making just her eighth career start in the Bow Mistress. Out of the Foxhound mare Not That Innocent, I Love It was bred by the family of her trainer, John Salanitri, and races for the Salanitri family.

Artie Schiller has sired 50 stakes horses–22 in 2014 alone–and the earners of more than $23,000,000 worldwide. He is standing the 2015 season at WinStar for $15,000 live foal.
