Paris Lights returns to action with a victory in the $150,000 Distaff H. (G3)

WinStar Stablemates Racing LLC’s Grade 1 winner Paris Lights made her 2021 in the $150,000 Distaff H. (G3) Friday at Aqueduct and came away with a half-length win in the seven-furlong affair for fillies and mares.

Away from the races since winning the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) last July, the 4-year-old filly showed her customary speed to press Portal Creek through a half-mile in :48.28. She got on even terms with the pacesetter a furlong from home, with Honor Way pressing the issue to her outside. Digging in gamely in the final furlong, Paris Lights hit the wire in 1:26.99 on a fast main track.

“Obviously, it’s not her best distance, but she showed up and ran well,” said winning trainer Bill Mott’s assistant Leanna Willaford. “This gives her plenty of time for the [Grade 1, $500,000] La Troienne [on April 30] at Churchill Downs. No complaints. She’s has been doing great.”

Paris Lights was bred by WinStar Farm and has won four of five starts while earning $370,412.
